Do you know what’s not good for your workout regimen? Going to the gym every day, despite having a busy schedule. You’re more likely to get bored and give up, which leads you to eventually stop going altogether. And that is bad news for you! I don’t go, you’ll miss out on the benefits of consistent exercise–such as weight loss, better life, improved mood, etc.–not to mention all of the time you’ll save in travel and registration fees.
So why not try home workouts instead? These can be both effective and efficient: by working out at home, it’s easier to control your speed and intensity. here are some tips on how to start doing these moves at home:
Tip 1: Pick a Home Workout Routine Suited for Beginners
If you’ve never done a workout before in your life–or if it’s been a while since the last time you did one–it’s best that you begin small so as not to overwhelm yourself. Look up basic routines online and work from there, gradually increasing the length of your workouts each week until you’re ready for something more challenging.
Additionally, it might be a good idea to follow a pre-planned workout schedule for about a month before you start making your own. That’s because you’ll need some time to get used to the exercises and figure out what works best for your body type.
Tip 2: Pick Up Some Basic Equipment
If you’ve got most of these items lying around at home, then you’re all set: jump rope, pull up bar, sandbag, yoga mat, stretch bands, resistance band, dumbbells or ankle weights. You can also use soup cans or water bottles as substitutes for weightlifting equipment such as dumbbells and sandbags.
For this reason, it’s best to try the routines first before deciding if you need to purchase any additional equipment. If you find yourself struggling with some of the moves, then go out and buy ankle weights or dumbbells (or your preferred form of weightlifting).
Tip 3: Find a Workout Buddy
Working out alone is always an option–but it’s not always effective. It can be boring, for one! And there are times when you’ll need moral support more than anything else. That’s why it might be useful to have someone tag along on your home workout regimen; that way, he/she can encourage you to push harder and keep up on those gruelling days.
But if this sounds like too much work, then consider using some form of motivation such as a fitness competition. These can be fun and will push you to give it you’re all.
Tip 4: Find Time for Your Workouts
If you’re still having trouble finding time for these home workouts, then try jotting down your schedule–including what tasks need to get done, appointments, etc.–and filling in any free periods with workout time. For example, if you know that you have about an hour every Saturday morning free, then go ahead and work out during this time instead of sleeping in or watching television. This way, it’s possible to fit in your daily exercises without upsetting the rest of your plans.
Keep in mind too that exercising can make you more productive. So even if you only have time for a short home workout, it’s still possible to see results!
Tip 5: Set Goals for Yourself
If you’ve ever done any form of exercise before, then you probably understand the mental benefits behind these activities–such as improved memory or creativity. And the truth is that working out at home can also provide such perks because your brain will be so focused on completing your tasks and reaching your goals: seeing those numbers on the scale drop or fitting into those old clothes again will motivate you to work towards such goals.
So why not set some personal objectives for yourself? Even just aiming for one pound of weight loss every week adds up over time.
Tip 6: Incorporate Health Foods into Your Diets
It’s not enough to just exercise. For your workouts to be truly effective, you’ll also need to focus on your diet. That means cutting back on processed foods and increasing the number of fruits, vegetables and whole grains that you eat. And remember that water is a vital part of this process: drinking enough of it ensures that your body functions properly and helps it to flush out toxins.
Tip 7: Reward Yourself for a Job Well Done!
Don’t forget to nurture yourself along the way too! Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in all those–how many pounds have I lost?–so take some time to appreciate the little things in life, too. Reward yourself for a job well done: wake up 30 minutes earlier to read that novel you’ve been meaning to get to or treat yourself to your favourite meal after losing 5 pounds!
So if you want to lose weight, boost your energy levels and reduce stress, then it’s time for you to start exercising at home!
